Bright House Field name could change soon

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Charter Communications Inc. "plans to buy Bright House Networks LLC for $10.4 billion, forming the nation's second largest cable operator."

This is big news, not only for Florida cable customers, many of whom have Bright House service, but also for the Clearwater Threshers.

Via the Tampa Bay Times,
Bright House — Florida's second-largest cable provider — also runs the Bay News 9 local news channel and has its name on the Philadelphia Phillies spring training complex in Clearwater.

The article claims any deal between Charter and Bright House wouldn't be done until at the end of 2015 or early 2016. So Bright House Field will probably remain Bright House Field through this season. Next season, however, the facility could see it's first name change since opening in 2004.

Will the stadium be Charter Field? Or will another area corporation buy the naming rights?

If the stadium changes names, it will be the first time since 2010 a Tampa Bay area stadium changed names. That year, Dunedin Stadium became Auto Exchange Stadium.
